Be true to yourself, Daaahlings!

Yeesh! It seems everyone's a fashion critic these days. While this is not necessarily the hat style I would choose to wear for the royal wedding, it was Princess Beatrice's choice, and I say Kudos to her for being true to herself!

Did she do it for shock value (you know - shock value - Lady Gaga's meat dress - Bjork's swan dress) - I wouldn't wear one of those either, but there is something to be said for being artsy. Or, quite possibly, this may simply be the hat that spoke to Princess Beatrice. Either way, isn't it so much more interesting to experience different styles? I think so.

At the end of the day, neither I, nor most of the self-proclaimed fashion critics, are likely to be invited to such a royal day of glorious fashion and, really, would we be able to pull off an outfit without criticism?

My point: All styles may not be for us, but can it suffice to say just that, without damaging comments toward a girl who dressed up for a wedding? Just sayin'

Love this color!

Love this shade of green - somewhere between emerald & jade - chosen for Pipa's evening reception dress (by Alice Temperley) for the Royal Wedding Celebration! The dress, itself, is beautiful on Pipa -- but the color is gorgeous!

I have two beautiful, Parisian-inspired screens at home with a splash of this color set against a cream/bronze background, and I want to paint some of my fab & funky furniture pieces this color ... I think I'll use this picture for a paint match!

A Day In The Life

Hey there, fashionistas! I spent the afternoon with my friend and fellow blogger, Stacie, http://www.theflirtyguide.blogspot.com.

First stop: Santa Cruz Diner, as reviewed by Diners, Drive-ins & Dives http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWyN6NkUArI - I enjoyed their rice noodle bowl :)

Then, on to see the movie, "I Am" at the Nickelodeon Theatre. Very inspiring. Real food for thought. Well worth the price of admission!

Afterward, a stroll Downtown Santa Cruz and 2 scoops of ice-cream at The Penny Ice Creamery. Caramel Bitter for me - Delish with a Capital "D"! http://thepennyicecreamery.com/

I met Lorena Bathey through Facebook. I "liked" her fan page and she "liked" the Simply Smashing! fan page, and we got to communicating. Lorena bought some fab vintage furniture from me (posted on fB, but of course) and I bought her book, "How I Became My Own Fairy Godmother," which she was so sweet to sign :) Long story, short... I LOVED her book and am excited to dig in to her new "Beatrice Munson" masterpiece! So happy with Lorena's work, in fact, that we've invited her to present a book signing at an upcoming (June) Diva Day at Simply Smashing! Save the date, Daaahlings!
